Remove passwords from PDF files

This page lets you remove password protection from PDF files. A PDF file can have two different kinds of passwords, and this tool handles both.

Types of PDF Passwords

  • Owner password (also called master password or permissions password) — controls permissions within the PDF document, such as printing, editing, and copying. This tool can remove an unknown owner password from any file automatically.
  • User password (also called open password) — restricts access to the PDF document itself. It prevents unauthorized users from opening and viewing the contents. This tool will not automatically remove this kind of password, but it will let you manually enter the password to unlock the file for further editing.

How to Remove a PDF Password

  1. Upload your password-protected PDF file by dragging and dropping it into the upload area.
  2. If the file has a user password, enter the password when prompted.
  3. Click the submit button to process the file.
  4. Download the unlocked PDF file.

Features

  • Automatic owner password removal: No password needed — owner restrictions are removed automatically.
  • User password support: Enter the known password to unlock and save an unrestricted copy.
  • No watermarks: Your unlocked PDF is clean and professional.
  • Batch processing: Unlock multiple PDF files at once.
  • Free to use: No registration or payment required.

All files are automatically deleted from our servers within 1 hour of upload.
